Albany galloper Dark Assault will chase the first black type victory of his career in the listed WAROA Belmont Guineas (1600m) on Saturday.

The Roy Rogers-trained galloper is the top weight in three-year-old feature race at Belmont Park.

Dark Assault has the services of champion jockey William Pike and will jump from barrier 11 with 58.5kg on his back in the field of 12.

The gelding has been in winning form this preparation with three victories since breaking maiden status in February.

Pike was onboard when they won the $100,000 Skyracing TV Provincial Championship Series Final (1400m) at Belmont last month.

Rising star Billy Ain’t Silly opened a $2.80 favourite in the Guineas for trainer Colin Webster.

Rogers will also have Captain Sharmaine, Kristella and Gifted Warrior entered on Saturday’s nine-race program.

Meanwhile fellow Albany trainer Steve Wolfe will take a handful of gallopers to the races with Beads, Alpha and Omega, One Short, Sowar and Lordhelpmerun.
