Roos hop through carnival undefeated

The Roos cruised through Sunday’s Great Southern under-13 carnival undefeated, winning all six of their matches and finishing with a massive percentage of 976.

The Saints placed second for the day at the Centennial Park Sports Precinct, notching up five wins, with their only loss coming from the eventual champions.

Roos got the better of Saints by a single kick, claiming a 3.2 (21) to 2.2 (14) victory.

Mt Barker, Eagles, Swans, Denmark and Ongerup, could only manage a combined seven points against the Roos.

Teague Valli, Jed Kowald, Devon Jefferies and Cord Kernutt, from the Roos, were all named in the Storm All-Stars’ team.

Saints’ Jack Byatt, Matt Williams and Kaleb Germain also named in the side. For third-placed Eagles, who had four victories for the day, George Bockman, Maxx Branderhorst and Mitch Paine were bestowed All-Star honours.

Finishing in fourth, with a record of three wins and three losses was Swans. Rory Luscombe, Kaidyn Ham and Ben Michael were selected from Swans. Ongerup’s Lucas Robinson, Cambell Johnston and Harry McLeod impressed All-Star selectors.

Denmark’s Felix England-Wong, Charlie Benson and Tarik Hartfield as well as Mt Barker’s Degan Toovey, Nate Cronin and Jared Ballard rounded out the side.
