Roo causes crash in Porongurup
A Porongurup man is lucky to have escaped with relatively minor injuries after a crash that left his car completely wrecked this morning.
The 19-year-old man was driving to work from Porongurup to Mt Barker when he swerved to avoid a kangaroo.
The Holden Statesmen left the road and went up an embankment, hitting several trees before coming to rest on its roof.
The man was able to remove himself from the vehicle before emergency services arrived, however, he was losing consciousness and was sent to hospital for examination.
Mt Barker police Senior Constable Eoin Carberry has warned motorists of the dangers of swerving for wildlife especially in the early morning and evenings.
