Rider injured by trail ‘man trap’

Albany Advertiser

Police believe a mountain biker rider was injured after a ‘man trap’ was deliberately set on a trail on Mt Clarence last month.

Albany police are now investigating the incident which left the 47-year-old rider with a serious laceration to his leg and other injuries which required medical attention.

The incident occurred between 2.30pm and 3pm on Sunday October 15 at the Albany Pilot Trail at Apex Drive on Mt Clarence.

Police say the incident was caused by an “apparent setting of a man trap.”

In April, Albany mountain bikers were left frustrated by the deliberate placement of obstacles including sticks, rocks, tree trunks and a car tyre placed on the shared tracks resulting in near misses.

Anyone with information on the October incident is urged to contact Albany police on 9892 9300.
