A State review into escaped burns which sparked devastating bushfires in Albany in May this year has been released this morning.

The review by the Office of Bushfire Risk Management on Friday morning examines the circumstances before the planned burns which escaped in the Great Southern region on May 24 and 25.

The Parks and Wildlife fires in the Stirling Range National Park and Torndirrup National Parks tore through more than 18,000 hectares.

More than 50 fires hit the region in 48 hours, flared by more than 120km/h wind gusts.

More to come.
