Returned election packages pass 25 per cent with just over a week to run in City of Albany election

Electors are continuing to be urged to have a say in the outcome of their local government elections with just over a week left to run before polls close across the State.
As of the end of Tuesday, 7368 packages have been returned in the City of Albany elections concurrently being run to elect a new mayor as well as four councillors
It means just over 25 per cent of the 29,102 packages sent out have been so far returned with the City
The last two ordinary local government elections in Albany, 2019 and 2021, resulted in a turnout rate of about 33 per cent.
In the Shire of Denmark, 1491 of the 5317 election packages that had been sent out had been returned by the end of Tuesday, about 28 per cent.
Of the 3904 election packages sent out in the Shire of Plantagenet 1164 had been returned by the same stage, about 30 per cent.
The number of packages being returned has already started to slow down and is expected to continue doing so over the final week of the election.
Packages need to be returned to the respective local government returning officer by October 21 to be included in the count.
