Surfboards and clothing from yesteryear were dusted off by a group of enthusiastic locals as they hit the water for the Albany Boardriders annual retro surf competition at Mutton Bird last Sunday.

There were five teams of four surfers, with Ian Minter, Dave Beeck, Pemba Spargo and Lily Shepherd the winners.

Adrian Shepherd, who donned a retro wig while competing, said it was another fantastic event.

“It’s just a fun family day,” he said.

“It’s more about riding old equipment and dressing up as a goose.”
