Reigning premiers Railways on the board after top bowling display against previously undefeated Park

Reigning premiers Railways registered their first win of the new 2020-21 Albany and Districts Cricket Association season in round four against Collingwood Park on Saturday. After two losses to start the season, the Tigers returned to form on Turf North against the previously undefeated Park. Former premiership captain Zane Marwick took to the field for the Tigers while Oswin D’Sylva played his first game for the club. However, it was an impressive bowling performance from the Tigers that guided them to their first victory of the season, and they secured a bonus point in the process. The Tigers were only chasing 113 for victory and they won by four wickets with 13 overs to spare. Collingwood Park fell to early trouble at 4-45 before a fighting knock from Leroy van den Dool, who tried hard to steer his team out of trouble only to be caught behind for 34 and that triggered another collapse. Tigers captain Coen Marwick snared the impressive figures of 3-13 to help restrict Park to 8-112 from 45 overs. Ryan Tindale took 2-18 from nine overs, four of which were maidens, and young seamer Jarrod Fuller claimed 1-13 as the Tigers ensured it would be only a small chase. Park’s innings never got going despite van den Dool’s patient innings of 34 from 59 balls, while youngster Byron Spaanderman provided some late hitting adding 17. In reply, the Tigers lost early wickets and when Coen Marwick departed on 20 they had slumped to 3-56. Youngster Ryan Davies was the next man to go for a well-made 23 and when Zane Marwick and D’Sylva were dismissed in quick succession the Tigers were 6-99. Aiden Dallimore and Jarrod Fuller got their side home however, passing the target in the 32nd over. Spaanderman capped off a strong day with 3-19 from seven overs for Park, while the returning Jack McPhee claimed 2-16.
