Collingwood premiership ruckman Darcy Cameron has inked a new deal with the Magpies, securing his future at the club until the end of 2026.

The versatile big man was already contracted until the end of 2025 but put pen to paper keeping him at Olympic Park for another year.

The Magpies made the announcement after the 28-year-old put together a complete performance in his side’s 32-point Opening Round defeat to Greater Western Sydney on Saturday evening at ENGIE Stadium.

Cameron enjoyed more time in the middle and played a key role for the Magpies with 20 disposals, four marks, five tackles, 30 hit outs and two goals.

The North Albany product was first drafted by Sydney Swans before arriving at Collingwood at the end of 2019 after playing just one game with the Swans.

Since then he has played 71 games and has kicked 51 goals across his four seasons in the black and white.

Last month Cameron was announced as the 2023 Albany Sportsperson of the Year after his brilliant season capped by an AFL grand final win.

Cameron joins teammates Finlay Macrae and Patrick Lipinski who also put pen to paper this week and the club’s general manager of football, coaching and leadership Brendon Bolton said they were delighted to have retained the three talents.

“We’re pleased to have Patrick (Lipinski), Finlay (Macrae) and Darcy (Cameron) extend their contracts with the club,” Bolton said.

“Since joining us in 2019, Darcy (Cameron) has shown exceptional growth in his game and has not only fulfilled a key role as a ruck but has also been a key target in front of goals. We’re excited to see where these three players can take their game in 2024 and beyond.”
