Region’s produce celebrated
A host of producers from across the Great Southern will gather to celebrate all the region has to offer at the Albany Food and Wine Festival this month.
From wineries and distilleries to artisans and breweries, about 40 exhibitors will rendezvous at Eyre Park as part of Taste Great Southern.
With last year’s inaugural event deemed a success by Taste event director Richard Campbell, who said the festival was a chance to showcase what the region has to offer.
“It gives people the opportunity who don’t have the chance to go out to the regions to see wineries and producers that they would not normally see,” he said.
“It’s a convenient way for visitors to see them but a convenient way for exhibitors to get to see them.”
Phil Shilcock from Montgomery Hill Wines would be among the exhibitors.
“It’s crucial that events like this continue to get the message out that the Great Southern has a lot to offer,” he said.
“Not only is the wine really good, the food, vegetables and other products ... it’s such a pristine area and the quality is second to none.”
Special guest Marco Pierre White will also be among the crowd as he joins three local chefs as they prepare a three-course meal showcase.
