The COVID-19 crisis has caused the cancellations of four major events set for the Great Southern on the Easter weekend.

The Albany Harbour Swim on Saturday and Sunday’s Southern Ocean Classic Mile in Denmark have been cancelled.

The harbour swim, which starts at Princess Royal Sailing Club and finishes at the Anzac Peace Park, attracts a big field of swimmers and it would have been the 21st edition of the race later this month.

The Southern Ocean Classic Mile is held annually at Ocean Beach attracting close to 100 swimmers for the 1.6km course but unfortunately can’t go ahead for a second straight year, after last year’s event was cancelled due to rough conditions.
