Railways: Logan Stubber wins second fairest and best award to cap premiership winning season with Tigers

Talented midfielder Logan Stubber has won his club’s top individual playing award in a premiership year — claiming his second league fairest and best as Railways won their sixth flag. The hard-running midfielder missed the 2020 season as he recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction but returned in dominant form this year and played a key role in the Tigers’ grand final victory. The Tigers held their awards night on September 24 and Logan Stubber finished strongly in the vote count to win his second league fairest and best gong. Older brother and captain Bodhi Stubber led the count early on but Logan Stubber collected 47 votes in the final three rounds to win on 168. Bodhi Stubber was second on 129 votes and the top five was rounded out by Kane Shephard (114 votes), Jayden Scott (103) and Matt Palfrey (99). Other league winners were Craig Frost (player of the finals), Mitch Green (most valuable player), Dylan Schorer (best team player), Scott (most consistent), Jack Steel (coaches’ award), Logan Stubber (Ryan’s award) and Xavier Brenton-Reed (best under-21 player). Bodhi Stubber won his third George Stephens Medal for his service on and off the field. Michael Roberts won the reserves fairest and best, Jack Stephens edged Toby Hall by five votes in the colts and Caleb Haua won the 16s fairest and best in a premiership year.
