Railways jump from the bottom of the table after thrilling one-wicket victory over Collingwood Park

Railways wicketkeeper Aidan Dallimore has emerged as the hero, hitting the winning runs with seven balls to spare in a thrilling finish to their clash against Collingwood Park on Saturday. The Tigers lost their ninth wicket in the 49th over in their pursuit of 166 for victory. Dallimore pulled the ball in the air through midwicket past a diving Ben Grey and it trickled over the rope to hand the Tigers a one-wicket win in their round 13 Albany and Districts Cricket Association A-grade fixture. The reigning premiers were 5-125 and then lost 3-25 to put pressure on the lower order. With two overs left in the game, the Tigers required eight runs with Dallimore and number 10 Ryan Tindale at the crease. Tindale pulled a ball over the top to the leg side boundary with the first ball of the 49th over bowled by Dustin Boyce. However Boyce responded with two dot balls and then Tindale tried to again find the boundary only to sky the ball and be caught by Jack McPhee for five. The batsmen crossed while the ball was in the air to give Dallimore the strike and the youngster went hard at Boyce’s final ball, successfully finding the rope to secure the tense win with seven balls in hand. Dallimore’s knock of 54 from 124 balls was superb and helped the Tigers leapfrog Park into fourth spot on the ladder. The Tigers were in early bother at 3-39, as Park opener Steve Van Nierop claimed two scalps. Dallimore added 48 with Ryan Davies before the latter fell for 19, bringing Hayden Davies (24 runs) to the crease as he and Dallimore shared in a 38-run stand to pull their side back into a winning position. However Park bowlers dug deep as Byron Spaanderman took consecutive wickets and put the Tigers on the back foot again. Spaanderman claimed 3-31 off eight overs while Van Nierop took 2-18 off 10 overs. Park were able to post 6-165 batting first on the back of a half-century from Nathan Dovey. Dovey smashed 74 after being promoted to open the batting and was well supported by captain Matt Heberle who chipped in with 41. Park slipped to 4-73 with Dovey on 43, however he and Heberle added 70 runs in a vital partnership to get their side towards a competitive total. Coen Marwick claimed 3-29 from his 10 overs for the Tigers and snared the big wicket of Dovey, who was caught late in the innings.
