Police probe car fire near school

Police are investigating a car fire in Lockyer which gutted a Holden Commodore last night.

Albany Fire and Rescue located the car on Admiral Street opposite Mt Lockyer Primary School and extinguished the fire within 40 minutes.

A witness, who reported the fire to emergency services, said the blaze was extremely intense when he arrived at about 11.50pm.

“I was driving along South Coast Highway and saw the fire out of the corner of my eye,” he said.

“At first I thought it was a bushfire. It was incredibly intense.”

Police are speaking with witnesses today.
