Police charge teenager after the alleged burglary & ransacking of 92-year-old’s home in Orana, Albany

A teenager has been charged after allegedly ransacking the home of an elderly man during a home invasion in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Albany police have charged an 18-year-old man in relation to the incident that left a 92-year-old man shaken up when he woke to find the alleged offender inside his home. Police claimed the teen forced his way into a home on Minor Road about 5.55am on October 24. Inside, the teenager rummaged through several cupboards and drawers throughout the house, leaving items strewn across the floor. The victim was asleep in his bed and woke to find the accused standing over him. The 92-year-old shouted at the offender to get out prompting him to flee the home and police were called. The victim was visibly shaken by the ordeal but didn’t suffer any injuries in the home invasion and police say no items have been reported stolen. Police conducted extensive inquiries in the area and arrested the accused a short time later. The 18-year-old Orana man has been charged with one count of aggravated home burglary with intent. He is due to appear in Albany Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
