All-rounder Alan Pietersen bowled Railways into the Albany Cricket Association B-grade grand final, snaring the remarkable figures of 7-8 to eliminate minor premiers Narrikup Dark from the finals race on Sunday at Narrikup.

At 1-42, Narrikup appeared on track to chase down the Tigers’ target of 123 until the introduction of Pietersen turned the game on its head.

The medium pacer snared a hat-trick in the process as Narrikup lost their last eight wickets for only seven runs. Narrikup captain John Miell compiled a solid 39 but his dismissal triggered the staggering collapse as his side were bowled out for only 65 in the 22nd over to be eliminated from the finals in straight sets.

The Tigers will take on Manypeaks in the grand final after they progressed in Saturday’s second semifinal against Narrikup Dark

Peaks’ target of 140 proved too much for Narrikup, who collapsed from 2-76 to be bowled out for 114, with Miell again top-scoring with 37. Charlie Walters snared three wickets for Peaks.

In Saturday’s elimination final, Railways progressed with a hard-fought 40-run win over Narrikup Light, successfully defending 178. James Coad picked up 4-16 for the Tigers.

In C-grade finals, Denmark will take on Collingwood Park in the season decider after both progressed across the two days of finals.

Reigning premiers Denmark comfortably won their second semifinal over Manypeaks by 98 runs, while Collingwood Park eliminated North County and then Peaks in Sunday’s preliminary final.
