Eager junior athletes have dusted off their running shoes and sharpened their track and field skills for the new Albany Little Athletics season. The Albany Little Athletics Club held its fourth meeting of the season last Saturday with close to 90 athletes, and there were several records broken. The club has seen a swell in registrations, with 107 athletes currently registered and enjoying a revised program under which hurdles are offered every second week. A total of 15 athletes obtained personal best results in all the events they competed in, while dozens more personal bests were recorded across all age groups and events. Under-10s female competitor Amelia Fish set two new centre records for the 70m race and the turbo javelin. Amelia ran the 70m race in 11.66 seconds, as well as throwing 16.75m in the javelin to have a fantastic day at the Mike Biddulph Athletics Grounds. The club welcomes new athletes, and registration details are on the Albany Little Athletics website.
