Park club hosts junior doubles
Lawley Park Tennis Club hosted its annual First National Real Estate junior doubles championships, sponsored by Totally Sports and Surf, on Sunday.
Seventeen teams took to the courts in a round-robin format and enjoyed a full day of tennis.
The standard of A-grade play was excellent and the competition was won by Nelson Stanborough and Daly Kerr, who went through the day undefeated, winning all 10 of their matches.
Bremer Bay’s Brock Dawson teamed with local Fynn Bird to finish runner-up.
In the B-grade, brother-and-sister combination George and Lizzie Hodgkinson won nine of their 10 matches to win the event, with Amy Sandilands and Lilly Wiltshire finishing runners-up.
There was some great tennis in the C-grade, with the result relying on a countback to determine the winner.
Dylan Lock and Fergus Sandilands won the event by one game over Kasey and Clay Harrington.
“It was a great event with some excellent matches,” tournament director David Kerr said.
Next weekend Merrifield Park will Host its under-9 and under-13 junior singles championships, open to all players. Phone 0414 608 523 for information.
