Cam Owen and Suz Ghent, aboard Gill, claimed overall victory in the 2017 Hobie Class State Titles held at the Princess Royal Sailing Club last weekend.

Gill was first across the line in four of 12 races and second five times, and finished with a score of 24 to easily defeat second-placed Not Our Real Names, who ended up on 41.

Blew By You, sailed by Darren Smith and Kerstin Houk, was third on 61.

In the grand masters division, Diamond Cutter, with Kevin Inder-Smith and Emma Tuena, placed first after winning six of 12 races.

Diamond Cutter was trailed by Blow Me, who won two races and placed second three times.

PRSC manager Rod Hedderwick said it had been a great weekend for the club. “It was a very successful weekend; the wind was a bit light but sufficient,” he said

“Visitors to town were impressed with the area and the club enjoyed hosting the event.”
