A small but competitive field will contest the rescheduled $30,000 Albany Cup (2683m) at Harold Reid Paceway on Saturday night, with three local runners among the chances.

Star pacer Our Jimmy Johnstone will headline the final field for the leading metropolitan stable of Greg and Skye Bond.

The Bond camp will launch a two-pronged attack on the Albany Harness Racing Club’s major feature race of the season, which also rounds out the 2016-17 calendar.

Our Jimmy Johnstone contested the Inter Dominion Series late last year before running 11th in the WA Pacing Cup and then third in the Fremantle Cup in January.

The eight-year-old is expected to attract strong support in the feature after winning the Group 2 $50,000 RWWA Cup at Gloucester Park last start.

The second Bond runner will be veteran Courage Tells, who finished third to the stablemate last month.

Last-start winner Talktomeyourmattjesty appears a strong challenger to the Bond runner, while veteran Shardons Rocket will also start for trainer Tony Svilicich.

Last week’s Denmark Cup winn-er Good Times Ahead, trained loca-lly by Bob Poolman, will lead local hopes.

The Charlie Draper-trained My Samantha Jane and Celestial Ruler, prepared by Nathan Dymock, round out the local pacers in contention.

The Albany Cup has been switched to this added meeting after it was originally washed out in February.
