Now You See Them ... Now You Don’t exhibit opens at the Vancouver Arts Centre

The Vancouver Arts Centre welcomed its newest exhibit on Friday, a joint native flora and fauna display by local artists Anne Cochrane and Merry Robertson. The exhibit aims to highlight the threatened lives and habitats of endangered species within WA’s southwestern region. Over the years, Robertson has used art to raise awareness for endangered species in WA and created work with a focus on subjects such as the western ground parrot, the black cockatoo, and the red-tailed phascogale. A retired seed scientist, Cochrane expresses her love of the environment through felting and other mediums. The joint exhibition is a first for Cochrane and Robertson who have never previously worked together in an artistic capacity. Environmental experts Dr Sandra Gilfillan and Dr Tony Friend gave a talk on endangered fauna species in the Great Southern region, asking art show viewers to question their relationship with the diverse environment and world around them. The exhibition will run until November 24 at the Vancouver Arts Centre.
