North Albany trio line-up in Swans, Roos pre-season clash
Three AFL-listed players from Albany will get their chance to impress in the opening weekend of the JLT Community Series after squads were released for the first six games of the pre-season tournament.
Former North Albany ruckman Darcy Cameron has been named to play for the Sydney Swans in their hit-out with North Melbourne at Coffs Harbour on Sunday just over two months after being drafted by the Swans.
Cameron was pitted against Swans star Kurt Tippett in their intra-club scratch match last week and produced a solid showing.
It will be a fairytale start for Cameron as he lines up against fellow North Albany products Declan Mountford and Marley Williams, the duo among the Kangaroos squad selected for the clash.
Williams was traded to the Kangaroos from Collingwood at the end of last season and has impressed in pre-season training.
He played 68 games across half back for the Magpies.
Mountford was drafted by the Kangaroos in 2015 and is yet to play a senior AFL game but after a terrific season and VFL level and another encouraging pre-season is pressing his claims for an AFL debut.
The Swans and Kangaroos will meet at C.ex Coffs International Stadium on Sunday from 11.05am WA time.
West Coast Eagles star and ex-North Albany player Jeremy McGovern will miss his side’s first JLT match against Greater Western Sydney on Saturday.
