No messing around for fired-up Newcastle Jets against Perth Glory in Albany pre-season friendly

Newcastle Jets midfielder Callum Timmins insists his side is ready to spoil the Perth Glory party when they step into enemy territory for a pre-season fixture in Albany on Wednesday. The Glory youth product has spent the last two seasons at the Jets and believed the game will be highly contested with both sides eager to put their best foot forward. “Obviously we want to start off the season scoring goals, and we’ll play some exciting football and try new things so I think it’d be a good game to come down and watch,” Timmins said. “There will certainly be a bit of a competitive edge to it because it’s so close to the season. “We still want to get results and get a bit of momentum into the season, so we’ll certainly be there for a competitive game, that’s for sure. “Playing a game against an A-League team where we can still be competitive will be good because both teams will be able to show what they can do.” The 25-year-old English-born Australian said his side boast a number of exciting players and some rousing international talent, including Brazilian forward Wellissol Oliveria, who picked up an assist in their 3-2 victory against the Glory in Bunbury on Sunday. “We’ve got two games that are pretty close to each other so the coach can work on stuff and get minutes into different lads legs and it’s good for the season, to be honest,” he said. “We’ve got a new Brazilian player Wellissol (Oliveria) and he’ll be good and also, Daniel Wilmering, our left back is a pretty good player and is one watch out for.” Timmins and his Jets teammates will be in town this week before the pre-season clash kicks off at 4pm at Retravision Stadium on Wednesday.
