Newcomers Knights face big task in Barking Owls

Tayler NealeAlbany Advertiser

New side Knights will be looking to continue their winning form as they face off against last year’s grand finalists Barking Owls in round 2 of the Albany Basketball Association men’s A-grade competition tonight.

After trailing for the entirety of their season-opener against Denmark-Albany Spartans, the Knights snatched a last-gasp victory thanks to two made free throws by Matt Leary after the final buzzer.

The young side were out-muscled on the boards last week and will have their work cut out tonight as they come up against Owls big men Hamish McMorran, Justin Benson and Tristan Mackenzie.

Despite giving up height to most teams, Knights’ superior three-point shooting is a constant threat, and that was on full display in their opening fixture as they made six long-range shots while their opponents did not score from three-point territory.
