A new playground is being built at Lakeside Park in McKail, but its final design is being kept as a surprise for families.

The City of Albany has decided to upgrade the popular playground after the old one reached the end of its life. Manager City Reserves Jacqui Freeman said the redevelopment was an opportunity to deliver a unique playground “not seen anywhere else in Albany”.

“After consultation with the community, we have moved the location of the playground to be positioned in an area that is flatter and easier to access,” she said.

“Where possible we will be utilising salvageable parts from the old playground in the construction of the new one, which will include soft sand, multiple experiences within the structure, and a themed approach to the play area which will be a surprise for the community.

“Residents are encouraged to keep an eye out for when this new playground is revealed.”

The playground is expected to be finished in the next month.
