There is a new space on York Street that could help the dreams of the region’s female entrepreneurs come alive.

The collaborative space, called Ideation Co, has been created by three local female business owners.

The concept blossomed when Click Collective Branding Agency owner Megan King came together with Concept Tech owner Natasha Wilson and Be Think Do Mindset Coaching owner Emily Smith.

All armed with the experience of launching their own businesses in Albany, Ms King said they saw a gap in the market that they could work together to fill.

“We realised there was a strong need for a supportive network for women in business where they felt comfortable and supported — a way to provide an affordable co-working space for small businesses and to help women develop connections and business growth,” she said.

“It is transforming the way we work, collaborate and connect to ensure the greatest community and economic impact.

“As small business owners in Albany, we have struggled to find a vibrant open space to work with like-minded people.”

The space aims to offer a home away from home for female professionals where they can be inspired by like-minded people.

The creators hope it will boost the Great Southern economy and show entrepreneurs the region is a great place to run a thriving business.

Ms King said there was increased need for a co-working space because of COVID-19.

“There is now a demand for remote working, as well as a lot of people starting their own businesses from home,” she said.

“The world is undergoing huge shifts in the way we work.

“Changes in technology have led to more people working from home on their own businesses as contractors or sole traders.

“In many bigger centres, there are hubs popping up where entrepreneurs can come together in one space to work, collaborate, connect and network.”

Ideation Co will be launched at 5.30pm on Thursday, October 29.
