A new child-friendly dental health service “exclusively for kids” hopes its flexible appointment hours will ease the three-year wait list for Albany kids.

Looksee Dental is located inside Radiant Smiles Dental Care on South Coast Highway and offers after-hours appointments during the week as well as Saturday appointments for busy parents.

Business owner Pamela Holmes envisioned a welcoming space for children that would make the experience less scary.

Ms Holmes offers general children’s checkups to assess baby and adult teeth health, keeping an eye out for decay and other issues.

Ms Holmes said she wanted to open a children-friendly clinic “set up exclusively for kids” that offered flexible appointments so children’s dental health is not impacted by a three-year wait list that could create problems later in life.

“The whole place is really geared up for kids,” she said.

“Kids are really my passion, and it’s heartbreaking to see holes and abscesses in kid’s mouths.

“I’ve made everything as welcoming as possible, I’m even dressed up in funky shoes and funky clothes.

“I’m a working mum with two kids myself and I know how impossible it is to get them to an appointment in normal hours.”

She hopes the clinic and its flexible appointment hours will work for families.

The clinic accepts Medicare dental vouchers.
