Narrikup will regain two players for their elimination final but star defender still on the sidelines

Narrikup 1 will regain captain Kristie Slater and shooter Ella Scamozzi for their elimination first semifinal against Grammar 1 in the Albany Netball Association A1 finals series on Saturday. However, Narrikup will start their finals campaign without last year’s Michelle Parsons award winner Darcy Kerr. Kerr, last season’s best and fairest A1 player, has missed several games of the season with a serious ankle injury. Narrikup coach Lisa O’Farrell confirmed Kerr would not take to the court in the elimination final while Kym Quartermaine and Marianne Tutt will also be missing. “Missing Darcy in defence and Kym and Marianne through the centre are really big losses for us,” O’Farrell said. “We will see what happens with those players missing. “We go in with a bit of confidence but anything can happen. “We will just keep playing the way we want to play and stick to our game plan. “I think it’s going to be a really good game and whichever shooters are most accurate will go a long way to winning. “Turnovers through the centre court are going to have a big say on the game as well.” Shooters Sheridan Kowald and Casey Greay will be key players for Narrikup according to O’Farrell. Narrikup have won both matches against Grammar this season, including a thrilling come-from-behind victory last Saturday. Grammar coach Jenny Cristinelli confirmed they would have a full team for the do-or-die final. “We will go in with the same team as last week so that’s a bonus,” she said. “I think to overturn our results against (Narrikup) is a matter of consistency over four quarters. “On the weekend I think our third quarter lost us the game. “We will be going into this game open-minded knowing we can be competitive. “If we want to win we have to be playing consistent netball and the young girls can take it up to them.” Senior players Jessica Leamon and Georgia Kowald will be vital to their winning chances along with youngsters Casey Griffiths and Molly Dickson. Royals Saints 1 and Railways 1 will do battle in the second semifinal clash on Saturday with the winner going straight through to the grand final. The two sides have split their results this season, with Railways winning their encounter on the weekend by six goals. Narrikup and Grammar play on court six at 1pm followed by Royals Saints and Railways at 2.30pm.
