Nardia Humphries powers Royals Saints to eighth straight victory on Saturday in the Albany Netball Association

Star shooter Nardia Humphries guided Royals Saints 1 to an eighth straight victory on Saturday over Grammar 1 before her side went on to make it nine on the trot over Kangas 1 in a Sunday fixture of the Albany Netball Association A1 competition. In Saturdays clash, Royals Saints took an early lead but the margin hovered around four goals for much of the first quarter. Humphries was on fire in the second term netting nine goals from 13 attempts to help Royals Saints stretch their lead to six goals. The game was broken open in the third term with Carly Szczecinski partnering Humphries as they put the ball in the net 12 times from 14 attempts to help their side open up a double-digit advantage going into the last quarter. The reigning premiers kept the pressure on in the final term causing several turnovers and they made Grammar pay at the other end, netting six of the first nine goals to cruise to a 17-goal victory. Royals Saints netted 12 goals to five in the third term and then added eight in the last quarter on their way to a strong 41-24 result. Humphries was a terrific presence in attack to finish with 29 goals from 41 attempts while Szczecinski played her part in the opening three terms. Taylah Orzel worked overtime in mid-court along with Maddie Dallimore in the final three quarters while Kathryn Jennings helped restrict Grammar to three goals in the second term and 10 for the first half. Jessica Leamon played well for Grammar to score 18 goals while Casey Griffiths again worked hard along with Molly Dickson and defensive duo Georgia Kowald and Isabella De Giambattista. Kangas and Magpies finals chances are over for season 2020 after both teams lost their round eight and nine fixtures respectively. Magpies produced a gallant effort against Railways on Friday night but were unable to pull back an eight-goal deficit at three-quarter-time. Magpies effectively had to win both their games on the weekend to keep their slim finals chances alive but Railways were too strong, winning 42-36. A dominant display on Sunday from Narrikup helped them notch their second straight win for the weekend, running out comfortable 55-30 victors over Magpies. In a high-scoring affair Narrikup proved too strong for Kangas on Saturday. Narrikup led by eight at half-time before Kangas responded in the third term outscoring their opponents by one goal but Narrikup prevailed 52-44 to end Kangas’ finals chances. A strong second half from Royals Saints helped them remain undefeated on Sunday. Scores were level at half-time but Royal Saints outscored Kangas by eight goals in the second half to prevail 34-26. The other round nine match between Railways and Grammar has been rescheduled.
