Museum of the Great Southern’s maritime themed school holiday program

The Museum of the Great Southern school holiday program will bring maritime-themed fun for children throughout the Easter break. From April 9 to April 25, two interactive activities will run for kids that take inspiration from the museum’s current exhibition Brickwrecks: Sunken Ships in LEGO Bricks!. The free interactive Engine Room activity will allow little learners to see what it would be like to work in the busy engine room of a ship. Children can use speaking tubes to pass messages from the bridge to the engine room, dress up as a sailor, race to keep the boiler stoked up with coal, and use tools to carry out repairs on the hundreds of bolts and cogs in the engine room. There will also be an assortment of maritime models to be put together. Kids can decorate a thaumatrope, build a model of the Titanic or paint a treasure chest, galleon or lighthouse, which they can take home with them. For details, visit bit.ly/3O2W4Mn.
