Crows strengthened their chances of finishing in the top two of the Southern Districts Junior Football Association under-14s competition with an important victory last Saturday morning. Mt Barker were one game clear of the Crows heading into their round 11 clash but it was the latter who finished 20-point winners and leapfrogged the Bulls into second position. A strong first half guided the Crows to the 6.3 (39) to 2.7 (19) win, their eighth triumph of the season. The Crows kicked one goal in the first term before adding three goals to one in the second quarter to open up a 16-point half-time advantage. Both sides kicked one goal in the third stanza but the Crows kicked the only major of the final term to seal the victory. Hayden Sims slotted two goals in the win while Charlie Anning, Tyla Anderson, Lee Pickett and Will Crabtree also kicked goals for the Crows. Saints moved two games clear on top of the ladder after a comprehensive 104-point win over Eagles. Robbie Farmer kicked three goals in the 16.16 (106) to 0.2 (2) win while Luke Pickering, Jai Roberts, Jesse Owens and Max Coad were among the other multiple goal kickers. Roos notched their seventh win of the season after finishing 25-point victors over Cats. After the Roos led by 24 points at half-time, both sides kicked two goals in the second half as the Roos prevailed 5.9 (39) to 2.2 (14). Ulrich Kriek booted two goals for the Roos while Oliver Les and Zephyr Simmons kicked Cats goals. Lions remain in the hunt to secure a finals berth as they downed Denmark-Walpole by 74 points, led by Harry Watters and Geoff Wynne. Harry Watters kicked five goals and Geoff Wynne added four in the 13.16 (94) to 3.2 (20) result. Buddy Robinson and Billy McRae also kicked two goals for the winners, who sit one game outside the top four. The Lions led by 24 points at the main break and booted seven second half goals to finish comfortable winners.
