North Albany product Declan Mountford produced a solid showing in his AFL debut for North Melbourne as they went down to West Coast by 43 points at Etihad Stadium last Sunday.

Playing across half-forward and through the middle, Mountford accumulated 11 touches, including two goal assists, with a perfect disposal efficiency to go with three tackles and three marks.

Mountford, taken with pick no. 60 in the 2015 national draft, spent 2016 playing for VFL side Weribee and finished second in the team’s best and fairest count.

The 20-year-old is a strong chance to retain his spot when the Kangaroos take on Geelong at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Also making his debut for the Kangaroos was former North Albany player Marley Williams.

Williams was traded to the Kangaroos in the off- season after 68 games with Collingwood.

The 23-year-old finished with 11 possessions and three tackles playing in defence.

Ex-North Albany player Mitch McGovern made a promising start to 2017 as he racked up 15 possessions for Adelaide in their 55-point victory against Greater Western Sydney.

McGovern also kicked two goals and had three goal assists. Brother Jeremy McGovern, also from North Albany, was his usual self in the Eagles’ defence as he finished the game with 21 touches and 12 marks, four of which were contested.
