Several Albany roads will be temporarily closed over the coming fortnight as filming starts on the zombie thriller We Bury The Dead, starring Daisy Ridley of Star Wars fame.

Produced by Perth-based production company The Penguin Empire, the film will be entirely filmed on location in Albany and the Great Southern.

After months of location scouting and final preparations, filming began on Monday on Sussex Street and will continue well into March with York Street also set to feature in the film.

The City of Albany has advised the community of several road closures and traffic management measures that will be in place over the coming weeks.
