Mindum Alexander Brown: Two trial dates set for Albany man after not guilty pleas to violent charges

An Albany man who has denied his involvement in four separate violent incidents last year will face two trials, with the dates determined at his latest appearance.
Mindum Alexander Brown, 32, appeared before Albany Magistrates Court via video link from Casuarina Prison on Tuesday to have a trial date allocated for nine charges alleged to have occurred in June and July last year.
On December 9, Mr Brown pleaded not guilty to two counts of impeding another person’s normal breathing or blood circulation by applying pressure to the neck, unlawfully assaulting and doing bodily harm to someone in circumstances of aggravation, and threatening to kill someone.
The four charges allegedly occurred in Centennial Park on July 30 and were said to be against his former partner when her child was present.
For these, he will face a one-day trial in the Albany Magistrates Court on August 24.

In this matter, police prosecutor Sgt Warrick Walker said as there were two co-accused, the trial would take longer as all three should be tried together.
The charge was scheduled for a two-day trial on September 7 and 8.
Mr Brown pleaded not guilty to a further three charges on December 9, related to an incident at The Albany Hotel on June 21, 2025, when Mr Brown was allegedly asked to leave the hotel but returned within 24 hours and was found to be armed with two table knives.
The Albany Hotel matters — alongside a charge of criminal damage alleged to have occurred in Mt Barker on July 23 — were all set down for a trial allocation date on February 24 after his defence lawyer Georgia Herford told the court negotiations were ongoing with prosecution.
