Mill Art Group autumn exhibition showcases talents of Denmark artists

Denmark’s Mill Art Group is holding its annual autumn exhibition at the Denmark Community Resource Centre with original artworks on display by 15 local artists.

The exhibition showcases a wide variety of techniques and art styles, taking inspiration from everyday life and the environment.

There is something for lovers of all types of art with mediums including oil and acrylic paintings, pastels, watercolours, linocut prints, fabric works, origami, encaustic and photography.

The Mill Art Group is a non-profit community group of artists “from every level of expertise”, according to group co-ordinator Marion Nelson.

The group holds four major exhibitions in the CRC gallery every year.

Mill Art Group members whose works are on display include Helen Okamoto, who is exhibiting paintings and mixed media works, and Beverley Ford, with her acrylic and encaustic landscapes.

“There will be an artist on duty every day,” Ms Nelson said.

“It will be great for the public to come in and have a chat with the artist who is there, and sometimes they will be doing some of their works as well.

“They’ll be able to show and describe all the different works that are available for sale.”

One of Ian Rorke’s woodwork pieces, Deep Waters, is featured in the exhibition.

“It is a study in reclaimed wood exploring the natural occurrence of waves within wood, and how they can mimic that of water and how often the calm we see above does not reflect the turbulence below,” Rorke said.

Ms Nelson said the exhibition was a chance to discover the talents of Denmark’s artists.

“We’ve got some award-winning artists in our group, as well as some new artists,” she said.

“The genre covers so many different things — there are landscapes, there are woodworks, there’s just such a cornucopia of works.”

The gallery is open daily from 10am to 4pm.

The autumn exhibition will be on display until April 24.
