Albany riders Faye and Emily Wiggins won gold medals at the 2019 State Criterium Championships held at Technology Park, Bentley on Sunday.

Several Albany competitors made the trek to the State titles and it was a local quinella in the under-17 women’s division as Emily Wiggins claimed gold from fellow Albany rider Jessica Waldron, who walked away with silver.

Faye Wiggins continued her dominant season in the under-13 girls’ age division, claiming the gold in the criterium over her sole opponent.

Craig Wiggins competed in the open men’s event and produced a solid top-10 finish, credited with seventh after finishing with the main bunch.

Both Lachlan Waldron and Riley Heslop were non-finishers in the under-19 men’s race.

Lachlan Waldron tailed off near the end of the race and Heslop had an early crash, requiring hospital treatment but was later fine after his spill.
