The Kalgan Stampede enjoyed not only fine weather but an amazing turnout on the final Tuesday of 2022 at the rodeo grounds by the Kalgan River. To the delight of all rodeo fans, the first star to appear was much loved Brucey the Brahman. Brucey completed several laps of the arena, gently and generously allowing fans an opportunity to get up close and pat the kindly bull. The afternoon action continued with the junior breakaway roping, which featured outstanding performances from a host of young riders. The main event commenced with a parade of flags and displays of horsemanship around the arena. The pageantry of the day was added to by an appearance of the Rodeo Queen of Australia 2022, Angela Whelan, resplendent in a blue sequined outfit and white cowgirl hat. The crowd continued to swell well into the evening as folk from near and far were treated to amazing displays from riders such as Clint Vanderbrook, Edmund Forrester and the talented John Brockhurst.
