Marbelup fire suspicious

Albany Advertiser

Authorities say the Marbelup bushfire which has burned through more than 300ha of bush and farm land is suspicious and may have been deliberately lit.

The alert level for the fire burning in Marbelup west of Albany has been downgraded to an Advice on Thursday afternoon.

It affects people between Down Road Nature Reserve, west of Corio Road and Rutherford Road, north of Lower Denmark Road, Broke Inlet and Lake Powell Nature Reserve and east of Mowforth Road continuing up to the Down Road Nature Reserve in Marbelup west of Albany.

An Emergency Warning was issued for the blaze on Wednesday afternoon but a wind change at about 1am this morning brought the fire back on itself, quelling the immediate threat.
