Man to face charges over assault, holding his partner in 14-hour ordeal
A 26-year-old man has been charged with assaulting his partner and preventing her from leaving the house over a 14.5-hour period in Albany this week.
Detectives charged the man following the incident on Thursday in the suburb of McKail.
Police will allege the man assaulted his 24-year-old partner between 3am and 5.30pm, leaving her with injuries to her face, chest and bruising to her body. She attended hospital for treatment.
Police further allege the man refused to let his partner leave the house.
The woman managed to escape to her car when it was then alleged the man smashed a car window with a rock as she was leaving.
The man has been charged with deprivation of liberty, aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm and criminal damage.
He will appear in court at a later date.
