Man drowns in rock fishing tragedy near Albany
A man has died after he was swept into the ocean while fishing off rocks into the ocean near Lowlands Beach.
Witnesses said the man, aged in his 30s, fell from rocks while attempting to retrieve a fish at an area known as The Deep, about 2km west of Lowlands Beach at about 12.40pm.
A lifebuoy was thrown into the water but did not reach the man.
A sea rescue crew recovered a body from the water just before 3pm.
Sea rescue crews from Albany and Denmark and a spotter plane assisted crews at the remote site, accessible only by four-wheel- drive, about 30km west of Albany.
