Magpies eye grand final
Magpies 1 will be out to reach their third grand final in four seasons when they tackle defending premiers Kangas 1 in this Saturday’s Albany Netball Association A1 preliminary final.
After losing last week’s second semifinal to Royals Saints 1, Magpies now face a do-or-die final against Kangas, with the winner progressing to next Saturday’s decider.
Magpies thumped Kangas in their most recent encounter, 59-32, in round 12 but Kangas won their round 5 clash 41-36.
Magpies won their maiden A1 premiership in 2015 and reached the grand final in 2014, while Kangas are out to keep their back-to-back premiership hopes alive.
Saturday’s preliminary final will start at 1.30pm on court 6 at Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre.
The annual Michelle Parsons awards night will be held on Saturday night as well, with the Michelle Parsons Memorial for the fairest and best A1 player announced. Last year’s winner Kelly Judd is again expected to be a strong contender.
