Magpies Black and Eagles share the points in action-packed draw in round seven of SDJFA

Magpies Black and Eagles played out a thrilling draw in round seven of the Southern Districts Junior Football Association under-12 competition at Centennial Oval on Saturday. Both sides battled hard in the first quarter with Eagles’ Billy Abrahams impressing in the midfield, weaving through traffic to set his teammates up early. A strong second half from the Magpies got them within striking distance of a win but both sides had to share the points, with the contest finishing 3.1 (19) to 3.1 (19). Magpies Black’s Zephyr Endacott was superb in the result, gathering a plethora of possessions while setting his team up in the forward line. Meanwhile, the Saints thumped the Swans by 53 points in their 10.7 (67) to 2.2 (14) triumph at Centennial on Friday night. On Saturday at Centennial, the Cats got on top over Magpies White as they cruised to a 2.8 (20) to 2.4 (16) win. It was the first loss of the season for Magpies White while the win lifted the Cats to 14 points, two points outside the top four. In the final fixture of the round played at Cranbrook the Lions easily accounted for the Bulls, running out 7.2 (44) to 1.0 (6) winners. The 38-point win helped the Lions move level on points with Magpies White.
