Arch rivals Magpies 1 and Royals Saints 1 will square off in an Albany Netball Association A1 preliminary final blockbuster on Saturday, with a spot in the grand final on the line.

The two sides have played in three of the last four grand finals, with Royals Saints having won two of those.

However, only one of the teams will progress through to the A1 decider this year and get a chance at more premiership glory.

After finishing at the foot of the table last year, the Magpies returned to their best form this season, winning 10 games from 14 rounds in the regular season.

Meanwhile, Royals Saints are hitting form at the right time of the year and produced a great fourth-quarter fightback in their elimination final victory last Saturday.

The winner will advance to the grand final next Saturday and tackle reigning premiers Narrikup 1, who defeated Magpies in the recent second semifinal.

The preliminary final will feature star shooters at either end, with Royals Saints’ Nardia Humphries and Magpies’ Brittany Finigan set to play big roles in their sides’ bid to reach the decider.

The final will be played at 1pm on court six on Saturday.
