Lovett Muay Thai gym hosts more than 600 people for Nemesis 2023 fight event

Albany hosted the 2023 Muay Thai Nemesis tournament, with more than 600 people turning out to cheer on the fighters taking part. Robert Lovett from Lovett Muay Thai gym said the night was an absolute “success” and was incredibly thankful for the support given by the Muay Thai community in organising the event. Out of the five fights that were held on the night, Lovett won four, with Shawah Jin winning the main event of the night. Mr Lovett uses his love for the martial art to instil confidence and teach self-defence. Nemesis had been planned by the club for about three months beforehand after developing as a team and overcoming trials and tribulations together. “We’re finally at a stage where it’s we’re quite confident we’ll be able to hold our part of the deal,” Mr Lovett said. “We went ahead with making, creating and promoting Nemesis Rising, with the help of my trainer Bill, who’s also a promoter up in Perth. “The process ran quite smoothly and it came together really well on the night. “The venue itself was amazing, it was perfect with grandstands that we had staged looking down into the ring and created a great atmosphere.” The night also allowed the club to raise more than $5000 for the Albany Youth Association to assist with mentoring programs and teaching self-defence, aiming to build confidence in Albany’s youth. “In the process of doing all this, we’ve also been able to raise some money for the Albany Youth Association,” he said. “We’ve created a good pathway there to be able to help these guys with some programs in the future. “All in all it was a massive success, and I couldn’t have asked for it to have gone any better.”
