Friends and family have said an emotional farewell to Brody Ford, a loving and cheeky young man taken too soon.

Mourners gathered at Amity Rose Funerals on Thursday to celebrate the life of the 26-year-old, who died after a tragic accident at a Racewars event in Albany earlier this month.

Mr Ford was competing in the Racewars 1000m VMax sprint on March 3 when his Ford Mustang failed to stop at the end of the track. Close family shared childhood stories of the fun-loving and witty car enthusiast.

Friends spoke about his kind and humorous nature.

Friend Elliot Price described how Mr Ford “lit up the room”.

“How your life came to a sudden and surprising end is nothing but a tragedy,” he said.

“You died fulfilling the heaven that you created and were continuing to create for yourself — not by someone else’s hand but strictly on your own terms.”

Mr Price told the crowd how he and Mr Ford had developed their friendship into an “unbreakable fortress”.

“You did what you do best and helped me by offering me routine, reassurance and friendship,” he said. “For that, I will always be grateful.”

“With the time you were on this earth, you had discovered the meaning of life — something that some people are not able to do in 100 years. Therefore, you should be proud, as we all are.

“You are and will remain one of my closest friends. I love you.”

Shane, a friend who worked and travelled with Mr Ford, told stories of their adventures. “I’m going to miss his witty humour, I’ll miss his rare character and I’ll miss his cheeky shenanigans,” he said.

“We found our mutual trait, living life with humour as reli-gion and laughing away the days. “Brody — there are a few things I want to say.

“Thank you for being such a good mate, thank you for every-thing you did for me, and thank you for always being there, not just for me, but for anyone who would seek out a cheering help or the positive energy you carry.

“In saying that, I will always take the energy with me. To my mate and brother, I love you.”

Words were also shared from Mr Ford’s grandparents:

“You were a shining star in our lives from the moment you were born ... our lives will never be the same without you. See you, Brody.”
