The School Sport WA basketball teams travelled to the Great Southern last week as part of a regional tour.

Because of COVID-19, the teams couldn’t get to the Eastern States for their tournaments, so they travelled locally instead to play exhibition matches against players in the Great Southern and South West.

The School Sport under-12 girls and boys played against the Albany Basketball Association’s under-14 Raiders.

Both games were close encounters, with the WA teams victorious.

The School Sport under-18 girls and boys played some of the ABA’s best A-grade men and women.

In the men’s contest both sides had great teamwork but the WA team prevailed, while the girls’ side was too strong for the ABA outfit, winning comfortably.

The ABA appreciated the effort put in by all to make the event happen in the off-season, as well as the WA teams for travelling to Albany.

The squad visited numerous places while in Albany, including the National Anzac Centre.

They also played games against teams in Denmark and Busselton as part of the tour.
