Albany clubs Rovers and Caledonians will face off on Sunday in the opening round of the WA qualifiers for the national FFA Cup.

The regional and masters teams will kick off the knockout competition this weekend around WA.

Albany has three teams participating.

Polonia are the third Albany team involved in the preliminary rounds but after drawing Busselton City FC first-up, they are already through to the next stage.

Busselton City have forfeited, however, to send Polonia through to the second round, where they will be joined by one of the other Albany clubs.

Rovers and Caledonians will square off on Sunday with a 2pm kick-off to decide who progresses to the second round.

The Great Southern Soccer Association confirmed the match would be played at the multipurpose field near the Albany Leisure Aquatic Centre.

Rovers will be hoping to improve on their first-round exit from the FFA Cup last year.

Caledonians, who won both the men’s league and cup titles in 2018, will take part in the FFA Cup for the first time. Last year local side Albany-Bayswater, who are not taking part this season, made it to the third round.
