Limeburners keeps up spirited prize run
Albany whisky producer Limeburners has continued to turn heads on the international stage after it was announced as the best international whisky in the world and the best craft whisky in the world at the American Distilling Institute’s annual spirits awards in the US this week.
The local distillery’s Single Malt Whisky claimed the best international whisky award while the Heavily Peated Darkest Winter earned them the best craft whisky gong, adding to an already overflowing trophy cabinet.
Last year Limeburners claimed three silvers and a bronze medal at the International Wine and Spirit Competition along with being named champion Australian distillery and champion Australian whisky at the 2016 Australian Distilled Spirits Awards.
The company recently expanded its production after the purchase of a 9ha property in the Porongurups to go with the opening of a new distillery in Margaret River in 2015.
