Albany’s award-winning Liberte is well and truly proving it’s way in the industry after it was crowned Bar of the Year last night.

Liberte and nine other category winners were announced yesterday at the Gourmet Traveller annual Restaurant Awards in Sydney.

The regional bar took out the top spot over metropolitan bars nationwide.

With a French Vietnamese cuisine and elaborate cocktail and wine menu, it was taken over by Amy Hamilton in 2014 and has since become respected nationwide.

Liberte will feature prominently in the 2019 Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Guide as the category winner, after taking out the third-best restaurant in regional WA in the 2018 edition.

Other winners in the 2019 edition include Sydney’s Quay which was named Australia’s Restaurant of the Year, Brae in Otways of Victoria won Regional Restaurant of the Year and Laura on the Mornington peninsula won New Restaurant of the Year.

Details of the winners are in the September issue of Gourmet Traveller, which comes with this year’s edition of the Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Guide.
