LGSHA 2024: Spencer Park and North Albany to square off in men’s and women’s A-grade blockbuster grand finals

Spencer Park and North Albany are gearing up for the ultimate battle as their men’s and women’s A-grade sides face off for Lower Great Southern Hockey Association premiership glory on Saturday. The Redbacks are chasing a historic and association first five-peat when they square off with Park in the women’s decider while Park are looking for a hat-trick of flags in the men’s competition. Despite being minor premiers, the Redbacks women’s side are coming into the encounter with mixed form having won just two of their last seven matches. Two of their three losses in that time came against Park, who have been inconsistent at times but both their last two wins were against the Redbacks and they will be out to avenge for last year’s grand final heartache. In the men’s title decider, Park will bring in scintillating form with four consecutive victors including beating minor premiers Manypeaks. Redbacks lost their final three matches of the regular season but snatched a stunning 3-1 win over Peaks, bundling their opponents out in straight sets and lining up an intriguing grand final. The ledger between the two is currently squared at 1-1 with their pair unable to be split through their two other results, which both ended in draws. The grand final doubleheader starts with the women’s final at 2pm and then the men’s at 4pm. Spencer Park Dark and Spencer Park Light will do battle in the women’s B-grade grand final at noon and the men’s B-grade decider will be played at 6pm between Manypeaks and Great Southern Griffins Vets.
